Walks and Trails

Albany is home to many walks that take in amazing natural beauty. Stunning scenes and close-up whale encounters are on offer (with a little luck) from the local boardwalk. A variety of other walks provide spectacular views of rugged Albany lanscapes.

Natural Beauty

Feel the power of the great southern ocean and experience the natural beauty of the southern coastline at the Gap and the Natural Bridge. These Albany icons are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to discovering the rugged natural coastline.

Whale Watching

Southern Right and Humpback whales will use the many protected bays around Albany to shelter with their calves during their annual migrations. It is not unusual to see whales and their calves playing within 100m of the shore line.

Surfing Near the Wind Farm

Dolphins are occassionally spotted surfing amongst the waves at Sand Patch. Perched on cliffs 80m above, and towering 65m high, are twelve giant turbines that can generate enough `green` power to provide for 14,000 homes. During spring they float in a sea of wild flowers.
